3 Reasons Why A McLaren SUV Is Never Going To Happen

It’s no longer a massive shock when a supercar manufacturer reveals a new SUV. Lamborghini recently launched the Urus, and the Macan continues to be Porsche’s best-selling model year after year. Both Ferrari and Aston Martin are also building SUVs. McLaren, on the other hand, stubbornly refuses to join the SUV bandwagon. Top Gear recently caught up with McLaren CEO Mike Flewitt, who made it abundantly clear that a McLaren SUV won’t be getting the green light any time soon. “There’s more than enough SUVs in the world, and we don’t need another one,” he said. The CEO elaborated on this by giving three core reasons why making an SUV isn’t viable for McLaren. First, there’s the brand image. “An SUV is only going to dilute the McLaren brand,” Flewitt explained. “Our brand and heritage is motorsport and great drivers’ cars. SUVs are great, they have their place, but they’re not great drivers’ cars. They utterly dilute the driving experience so it makes no sense.” Another problem is...

Mercedes-Benz EQC Electric SUV Unveiled

After months of teasing and anticipation, Mercedes-Benz has finally taken the wraps off its first ever all-electric SUV, the EQC. The new EQC will take on the likes of the Jaguar I-Pace and the Tesla Model X along with upcoming electric cars from a range of automakers like BMW and Audi. The while some manufacturers do decide to go futuristic with their design language, sometimes even a bit over the top, Mercedes-Benz on the other hand has kept it a lot more 'normal' resulting in quite a handsome looking car. The new EQC is also the first production vehicle from the new EQ all-electric sub brand from Mercedes-Benz. The Mercedes-Benz EQC has a very familiar font end with a large grille and a twin slat AMG-esque design. The grille itself is shrouded with a black surround that flows into the LED headlamps. The LED daytime running lights in the headlamp itself are complemented with a LED lighting strip just over the front grille. The rear is very Porsche Cayenn...
