2021 Tata Gravitas which was expected this year has had it’s name changed to Tata Safari.
The car is going to be launched this month and will be approx. Rs 1 to Rs 1.5 lakhs more expensive than the Harrier. It will be a good option for people looking for more space and a car with even more road presence.
The car will get the 2.0-litre turbo diesel mated with an automatic and a manual gearbox. Safety will include six airbags and we expect Tata to toughen up the car for more off road capability. We don’t expect four-wheel drive but enhanced ESP modes to help the car.
The Safari had been discontinued during BS6 emission norms. The discontent of this 7 seater being discontinued had lead to a legacy hype for the company. Fans were sad that the Safari name had gone. Launching the Gravitas as the Safari will keep the Safari name alive. But there are two more reasons why the name Safari suits the car –
1. If we look at the car, the stepped roof, theater style seating, 3 rows and tough Land Rover/OMEGA-arc platform the Gravitas does seem worthy of the Safari name.
2. Safari when it came, was the most modern looking and feature loaded car and for many years stood as the brands flagship model.
