Renault's All-New 2023 Duster SUV returns: what You've Been Waiting For!
Renault, the French automaker, is preparing to debut the new Duster SUV in global markets. On November 29, the manufacturer will unveil the 2023 Duster in Portugal. The new Duster, now in its third generation, will be the SUV's most powerful model. Dacia, a subsidiary of Renault, created the new Duster on a new CMF-B modular platform. The French automaker is also anticipated to reintroduce the Duster SUV in India. However, it could be a couple of years before it touches Indian roads.
Renault Duster was introduced in India as a compact SUV in 2012. It was one of the earliest vehicles in the category, which saw the likes of the Hyundai Creta and others only a few years later. However, due to declining sales, Renault was forced to discontinue the Duster SUV in April of last year, after it had been on the market for ten years.
The new Duster will first be available with Renault branding in South America, Australia, and New Zealand. It is expected to be released in Europe with Dacia branding early next year.
Prior to its discontinuation in India, Renault offered the Duster SUV with two powertrain options: 1.5-litre petrol and 1.3-litre turbo petrol. While the former produced 105 horsepower and 142 Nm of peak torque, the latter produced 154 bhp and 254 Nm. There are three gearbox options: a five-speed manual, a six-speed manual and a CVT unit.
The French automaker will offer three engine options under the hood. The 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine will be the most powerful Duster SUV has ever had. It has a maximum power output of 167.6 horsepower. Renault is likely to offer a 1.0-litre petrol engine capable of producing 109 horsepower, among other powertrain options. There could possibly be a 1.2-litre petrol hybrid engine that produces between 118 and 138 horsepower.
